Shane

Shane Hernandez PT, DPT, ASTYM Certified, Advanced Dry Needling Certified

Shane graduated with honors from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston in 2001. He is an Orthopedic Certified Specialist with a strong background in Sports Medicine and Spinal Rehabilitation. He is a certified coach in POSE Method triathlon techniques and enjoys treating endurance athletes. Shane enjoys working with all ages and has experience treating the elderly, as well as, the competitive young athlete. He has also worked with a number of well-respected orthopedic surgeons in treating post-operative hips, knees and shoulders in Phoenix, AZ and is now bringing this experience to McKinney, TX.

Shane co-owned and operated an outpatient orthopedic clinic in Phoenix before deciding it was time to move back to his home state and open a clinic in Texas. This has allowed him the freedom to implement his own treatment philosophy that he believes will be of great value to the McKinney/Frisco Community.

Shane spends his free time with his wife, Tracy, and their four boys and is an athlete himself, competing in multiple triathlons every year. He also enjoys basketball, softball, and weight lifting.

Melissa

Melissa Benefiel PT, DPT, ATC, Certified Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapist

Melissa graduated with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Belmont University in Nashville, TN in 2012. She received her Bachelors of Science in Athletic Training with a minor in Exercise Science from Palm Beach Atlantic University. Melissa is dually credentialed as a physical therapist and certified athletic trainer. She enjoys working with people of all ages and has strong experience with vestibular disorders and athletic injuries.

Melissa recently moved to McKinney with her husband and is looking forward to serving the local community.

Michelle

Director – Michelle Pietrowski PT, DPT, Orthopedic Certified Specialist

Michelle has been practicing physical therapy for 10 years. She graduated from New York University in 2006 and received her board certification in orthopedics in 2008. Michelle is a certified provider of Active Release Techniques, Graston Techniques and Kinesiotaping. She has also received her Level 2 Medical Professional certification from the Titleist Performance Institute. She is currently working toward her spine specialist certification from the McKenzie Institute.

Michelle has a background in gymnastics, cheerleading and triathlons. She began competing in gymnastics at the age of 7 and finished as a level 9 gymnast. She then went on to the University of Pittsburgh where she was a member of their nationally ranked cheerleading team. After finishing at NYU, Michelle began competing in triathlons, including the New York City Triathlon. She has also coached gymnastics and cheerleading, most recently serving as assistant coach for Columbia University cheerleading team.

Michelle and her husband recently welcomed their first child, a baby boy, in June!

Grant

Grant Thornbrugh PT, DPT

Grant graduated from Baylor University in 2008 with a Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience/Psychology, then completed his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Angelo State University in 2013.

He has treated patients ranging from grade-school children to senior adults, and has developed a particular interest in issues of the back, knee, and shoulder. He is passionate about developing his career in the field of orthopedics/sports medicine.
He spends his free time with his wife and two children, and enjoys hiking, hunting, and other outdoor activities.

Matt

Matt Nguyen PT, DPT

Matt graduated with a Bachelor’s in Kinesiology from Texas Woman’s University in 2010 and received his DPT from the University of Texas Medical Branch in 2014. Since graduation he has had the opportunity to work with all types of patients, including those who have had sports injuries to those who have had chronic pain.

His passion includes working with orthopedic injuries, which include pre/post-operative rehabilitation of the shoulder, hip, knee and back. Matt also likes to work with the student athletes of the surrounding school district.

Matt’s hobbies include participating in all types of sports such as basketball, flag football, and volleyball, and he also enjoys working out. He is very involved with his church, playing in the band and teaching Sunday school.

Michele

Director – Michele Valencia PT, DPT, CERT-DN

After earning her Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from Texas Woman’s University in 1998, Michele attended UTSW Medical Center at Dallas. She graduated in 2000 with a Master of Physical Therapy degree. In 2008, she earned her clinical Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Boston University. Michele has been working in outpatient, orthopedic/sports medicine since 2000. She practices utilizing manual therapy and personalized corrective and functional exercise techniques. Her personal interests include running, weight lifting, cycling, boxing, and inline skating. She also enjoys traveling with her husband and spending time with her two rescue dogs.

Gaye

Gaye Tubbs PT

Gaye graduated from the University of Texas Medical Branch in 1986 and has worked closely with orthopedic surgeons in the North Dallas, Plano and Frisco areas for the past 24 years. She has worked with professional, college and high school athletes of all sports.

Her interests lie in all aspects of orthopedic medicine including pre/post-op rehab of necks, backs, shoulders, knees, ankles, total joint replacements, soft tissue injuries and general deconditioning. She works with pre-adolescents upward to the ever growing population of aging adults. Her hobbies include boating, biking and sports.

Joel

Joel Varghese PT, DPT

Joel received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2013 from Widener University in Philadelphia. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from Temple University in 2009.

Since graduating, Joel has had the ability to work with athletes ranging from middle school to the collegiate level. Joel has treated various orthopedic injuries and particularly enjoys educating athletes with ACL prevention programs, return to sport rehabilitation, treating neck and back pain, concussions, and various vestibular diagnoses.

Joel has been published in the Orthopedic Physical Therapy Practice for the effects of kinesio tape on myofascial trigger point release. His treatment strategy uses evidence-based approaches in helping patients achieve their goals quicker.

In his free time, Joel enjoys spending time with his wife, traveling, playing basketball, and watching movies.
